Indie Horror Movies That Need A Blu Ray Release- Fitz of Horror Wish List

Written by Bryan Fitzgerald (Fitz of Horror) April 29, 2018

It is no secret that I have fully converted to the Blu ray format for my chosen form of physical media, as have most collectors and distributors but there are still several recent indie horror titles that I would still love to see get the blu ray treatment.

As finicky of a market it is, it’s tough for indie filmmakers and distributors to justify spending more on Blu ray production as opposed to DVD format. I personally, will support Indie filmmakers even if the film is solely released on DVD but that doesn’t mean that I still don’t want it on Blu.

Below is a list of indie horror films that either haven’t been released yet or only have a DVD release (as of yet). I have taken the liberty of taking existing cover art for these films and simply adding them to a Blu ray cover.

An amazing Giallo throwback, this film from Richard Stringham has many layers of intrigue, suspense and absolute craziness.

Directed by Richard Stringham

Synopsis- A troubled young girl (Morgan) is forced to deal with her crazy grandma and a psychotic caller when her father leaves her home alone. But before the night is over, Morgan must also face her own fears and inner demons when she believes everyone she knows is plotting against her.

The Sleeper (2012)-

What should be considered the granddaddy of all 80s throwback horror movies, The Sleeper looks as though it was actually made in the early 80s and just went undiscovered for years. This image was pulled from Amazon…..Is there a possibility of a Blu ray release in the future?

Directed by Justin Russell

Synopsis-It’s 1981 and the girls of Alpha Gamma Theta sorority are having a party. As the new pledges arrive, so does an uninvited guest. Little do the sisters know someone is watching them in the shadows. As the girls shower, study, eat and sleep the stalker studies the girls. One by one he finds the girls at their most vulnerable and murders them. The police hunt for the missing girls and their killer, but will they find them in time? Or will the girls be forced to fight for their lives…

10/31 is most definitely one of my favorite new anthologies and very high on my “Needs a Blu ray” list, I mean just look at that cover art. This movie along with the indie hit The Barn (which only recently got the Blu ray treatment) can be found at ScreamTeamReleasing.com (who are currently looking for new films to add to their growing distribution label).

Synopsis-Red Letter Entertainment brings you…’10/31′ – a Halloween treat bag of all the things that go bump in the night. 5 spooky tales from masked killers to scarecrows, witches and tricksters. There’s a scare for everyone in this anthology of horror written and directed by indie horrors best and brightest such as award winning film makers Justin M. Seaman and Zane Hershberger (The Barn), Brett DeJager (Bonejangles), John William Holt (The Dooms Chapel Horror) an original score and segment directed by award winning film and game composer Rocky Gray (The Barn, Killing Floor 2, Close Calls) and features web horror host Malvolia: The Queen of Screams (Jennifer Nangle). These blood soaked tales of terror and the macabre in the vein of Creepshow, Body Bags, Tales of Halloween and V/H/S are sure to chill horror lovers to the bone.”

VOORHEES (2018)

Read my review HERE

After a very successful Kickstarter campaign, director Cody Faulk has promised a very dark and very sadistic Jason Voorhees feature length fan film. This will be available in an extremely limited blu ray run after its release later this year.

Directed by Cody Faulk

Synopsis-

They committed the perfect crime.  They planned for every possibility.  But they never planned for him…

After pulling off the perfect heist a dangerous crew of thieves flee town to the seclusion of the nearby woods. All they have to do is make it through the night so they can get away clean but their sadistic leader has taken them to the long deserted Camp Crystal Lake, a place that is no longer on any maps and for good reason.

Unaware of the locations notorious past the fugitives begin to explore their temporary hideout and soon realize that this place has a very dark and violent history that they are soon about to become part of.

It is a race to morning where the lines between bad and pure evil are blurred and the fight to survive the awakened legend of Camp Crystal Lake is much more than they bargained for.

The Confession of Fred Krueger  (2015)-

From talented Scream Factory artist Nathan Thomas Milliner, who is also a great director, this creative A Nightmare on Elm Street fan film will most likely never see a physical format release due to obvious legal reasons but if the Friday the 13th fan film Never Hike Alone can get a blu ray release then so should The Confession of Fred Krueger. Please release this on blu ray!!!….Until then, it is FREE to watch on Youtube HERE

Synopsis-It is 1973 and the Springwood Police Dept. have just arrested a man they believe to be the notorious child murderer known as the Springwood Slasher.

The Witching Season (2015)-

After being one of the very lucky few to actually have this film on blu ray, I hope to see a wider blu ray release in the near future. This is an amazing collection of short films that all deal with Halloween related themes.

Directed by Michael Baliff and James Morris

Synopsis-Fueled by nostalgia, this anthology of short horror films tells original tales of terror set during the Halloween season.

The Ritual (2017)-

American Guinea Pig: The Song of Solomon (2018)-

The hype surrounding Unearthed Films latest film from the Godfather of Gore Stephen Biro has been insane. Early reviews have touted how gross and demented this film is and that is music to my ears! The Blu ray is set for release this August!

Synopsis- The Catholic Church is trying to save an innocent soul from the ravages of satanic possession. Wave after wave of holy men are sent to confront the possessed.
