VOORHEES Plot synopsis-
They committed the perfect crime. They planned for every possibility. But they never planned for him…
After pulling off the perfect heist a dangerous crew of thieves flee town to the seclusion of the nearby woods. All they have to do is make it through the night so they can get away clean but their sadistic leader has taken them to the long deserted Camp Crystal Lake, a place that is no longer on any maps and for good reason.Unaware of the locations notorious past the fugitives begin to explore their temporary hideout and soon realize that this place has a very dark and violent history that they are soon about to become part of.
It is a race to morning where the lines between bad and pure evil are blurred and the fight to survive the awakened legend of Camp Crystal Lake is much more than they bargained for.
As shooting and principal photography begin to wrap up on the set of Cody Faulk’s upcoming and highly anticipated Friday the 13th feature length fan film “VOORHEES”, the director has gifted us some new stills from the film. Faulk has mentioned before that there will be several “Easter egg” callbacks to the original franchise and if you are a diehard Friday the 13th fan you should catch them all. I like to think of myself as a guy that really knows his F13 facts but Faulk has surprised me with a few of his “In your face but hard to see” easter eggs.
The newest still to be released from the VOORHEES team is this ominous view of the camera looking up at 2 masked figures. I am assuming these are a few of the kidnappers/bad guys that are seen in the trailer but what is really cool is that the mask on the guy on the right is the first mask Shelly wore in Friday the 13th part 3.
As Faulk has shown us before with the opening shot to his exceptional VOORHEES trailer, He is putting these easter eggs right in front of us and most of us aren’t catching them the first time. This time he scouts out and films at the exact location seen in the original 1980 Friday the 13th.
I am a sucker for things like this and the fact that Faulk is using these proves that he is a true student of the Friday the 13th game and will most likely have some other obscure franchise references as well. This does make me wonder, however, with what little we have actually seen of this film and we already have 2 easter eggs from 2 different Friday the 13th films, is Cody Faulk going to add an easter egg from every film in the franchise? That would certainly add to the overall experience of watching this film and definitely increase the “re-watchability” factor.
With the gritty and intense trailer nearing 200,000 views on YouTube, I can safely say that people are excited for this one and the response from franchise fans and Friday the 13th alumni has been extremely positive. 2019 will be the year of Jason Voorhees, mark my words because in addition to Faulk’s VOORHEES we will also be getting Jeremy Brown’s Vengeance, Deborah Voorhees 13 Fanboy and Dave Brown’s His Name Was Jason fan films. What a time to be a Friday the 13th fan.
