Fitz of Horror’s Review of The Barn

-Written by Bryan Fitzgerald (Fitz of Horror)

It’s not often that an independent horror film comes along and collectively captures the black hearts of a large percentage of seemingly jaded horror fans, but writer/director Justin Seaman‘s homage to 80s horror, The Barn  has seemed to do just that.

Synopsis-

Its Halloween 1989, best friends Sam and Josh are trying to enjoy what’s left of their final Devil’s Night before graduating high school. But trouble arises when the two pals and a group of friends take a detour on their way to a rock concert, finding an old abandoned barn and awakening the evil inside. Now it’s up to Sam and Josh to find a way to protect their friends and defeat the creatures that lurk within “The Barn”.Written by Nevermore Production Films, LLC

The movie starts with a bang and never really lets up. When we are introduced to our main protagonists, we quickly learn that Halloween isn’t just a day of the year, it’s a way of life and it has rules that you must abide by if you want to make it out alive!

This is not a “scary” movie by any stretch. It is a horror movie made for horror movie fans! The old school style rock & roll/synth soundtrack is spot on giving an even greater 80s vibe and we are introduced to 3 great new genre monsters in The Candycorn Scarecrow, Hallowed jack and The Boogeyman, each of which could have their own spin-off movies in The Barn franchise (If they decide to make more–wink wink).

The marketing campaign for this movie is nothing short of amazing and one to be studied by future independent studio efforts. If you check out The Barn Merch Store (The only place to get the special edition DVD or VHS), you will find an assortment of unique The Barn merchandise. They have action figures, board games, soundtrack cassette tapes and vinyl records, stuffed toys of the monsters, T-shirts, posters, masks, PC video games, signed photos and more!

With over 90 minutes of extras on the long awaited upcoming Blu ray release, this will be a must have for collectors.

**This Blu ray will be region free for those located outside of the United States

I can’t wait to see what the future holds for this possible franchise and the crew involved!

This trailer is a thing of beauty as well.
