The Hart-Break Killer (2019)- The Newest Insane Feature From Gatorblade Films- Fitz of Horror Review

Synopsis-Meet Robert. Robert has a little problem that just won’t go away. He’s a lonely guy looking for love in all the wrong places. He can’t figure out what he wants but he wants what he can never have. Ladies and Gentlemen, meet Robert Hart.

The latest release from writer/director Sean Donohue and Gatorblade Films, The Hart-Break Killer, is a departure of sorts from his previous films Death-Scort 1-3 and Cannibal Claus, whereas this film is more character driven and story focused as opposed to copious amounts of gore and nudity. The Hart-Break Killer shows tremendous talent filled leaps for both Donohue and star Eigh8t the Chosen One (Crackbaby Billionaire, American Guinea Pig series).

Eigh8t the Chosen One stars as Robert, a socially awkward hopeless romantic who is, in his own head, dating a known prostitute. As his best friends point out that she is, in fact, a “paid” girlfriend and she continues to stand him up for dates and leave his house before he wakes up, Robert reverts to a black room in his head where a more good looking and much more confident “Alternate Robert” dwells. With continued shortcomings in the dating/social world, Robert slips further from reality and closer to a mental break down. The psychological aspects of this film went much deeper than your average indie film making you actually feel bad for this poor dude all culminating in a very unexpected outcome.

I wasn’t sure what to expect going into this movie but when it was over I was immensely impressed. As I stated before, The Hart-Break Killer is a graduation of talent for both director Sean Donohue and star Eigh8t the Chosen One. The story, for the most part, is a coherent and unique effort and the acting by Eigh8t is fantastic. Playing both of Roberts personalities, one socially awkward and clearly mental and the other a very confident and comfortable character, he absolutely puts his all into this role and it shows.
