I Dare You to Open Your Eyes – Hope Muehlbauer’s Award Winning Film – White Lion Studios Press Release

Hopeless Pictures in association with White Lion Studios, LLC have just released this brand new poster/blu-ray artwork for “I DARE YOU TO OPEN YOUR EYES,” the directorial debut by 19 year old Hope Muehlbauer. The illustrated poster was created by the talented Belgian artist Stemo of Bloody Dungeon, and it captures the “Lord of the Flies” feel to the film. “I DARE YOU TO OPEN YOUR EYES” is a psychological thriller that follows high school student Max as he endures harsh bullying at school and an alcoholic father at home. Soon Max starts to have dreams about a slasher in a vulture mask who is killing bullies…but his dreams soon start to become real.

“This is more than just a slasher film,” says Executive Producer Ken Cosentino, who also plays one of the bullies, “Hope gives us a first hand account of bullying in todays high school. This film is brilliant and alarming.” At just 16 years old, Hope Muehlbauer wrote, directed and edited the film that turned heads at the 2018 Buffalo Dreams Fantastic Film Festival. Premiering to a packed theater, Hope took home the award for Best Outstanding WNY Feature. She also brought home the WNY Filmmaker of the Year Award at the 2019 NCCC Film Festival.

“I DARE YOU TO OPEN YOUR EYES” also explores mental illness and abuse, while staying true to the horror genre. In a time when new female directors are desperately needed in a predominantly male driven industry, Hope Muehlbauer is a diamond in the rough. Says Cosentino, “Right now we are entering film festivals and the film is not yet released, though we are open to speaking with the right distributor. For a microbudget movie, it has great production quality. White Lion Studios has been producing feature films for years and we made sure to provide a clean canvas for Hope to fulfill her vision.” Once you see the movie, you will be shocked to know that it was created by a 16 year old girl with a shoestring budget.
