River Road (2019) A New Horror Short Introduces “Tux the Clown” to the World (Movie in Article)-Fitz of Horror Review
Bryan Fitzgerald (Fitz of Horror) March 26, 2019
Synopsis– A teenage girl, her brother and her best friend show up at the wrong place at the wrong time. A psychotic mass-murdering clown comes in their path and they will have to do anything to survive.
The Strong Brothers short clown driven horror film River Road has been on my radar for the past year and it was finally released this week and it was well worth the wait. River Road is heavily influenced by the most recent IT film and our creepy antagonist Tux the Clown (Tyler Craig) could be the long lost brother of Art the Clown from Terrifier. River Road definitely pays homage to its predecessors while forging a bloodstained path all its own on the way to bringing a new killer clown to your nightmares.
Taking place on Halloween, River Road begins with news stories of clown sightings and harassment throughout the city (real news clips by the way). This seems to be a great time for Dani (Meredith Grace Dabney), Noah (Austin Rose) and Dani’s little brother, Liam to go looking for some of these clowns, right?. In a wooded area, they find a creepy aboveground tunnel and to prove he’s not a baby, Liam ventures down the dark tunnel, it’s safe to say he found what he was looking for. When Liam doesn’t come back Dani and Noah go to find him and this is when the movie gets crazy and I stop and say watch the 15-minute film for yourself below and thank me later!
River Road was a surprisingly polished and a very well shot short film featuring excellent cinematography, great creepy sets, and an ominous score. The acting was also quite good for an indie short. With all of these things in place as well as an effectively and eerily silent murderous clown, River Road could be, hopefully, well on its way to a feature film.
Check out the full 15-minute film below (watch in HD).
