Nefarious From Ash Mountain Films Promises to Bring A New Twist to the Home Invasion Genre-But They Need YOUR Help!-Kickstarter is Live–Fitz of Horror Exclusive

Synopsis-

Sometimes, you have to turn to crime.  Sometimes, it turns on you…

Darren, Lou, Jo and Mas live a meager existence on the fringes of poverty. Indebted to the criminal kingpin of their social housing development, they routinely fear for their lives.  

On the other side of town, the already wealthy Marcus and his mentally handicapped brother Clive receive a windfall in the form of a winning lottery ticket.  

When their worlds collide following a botched robbery, the would-be criminals get more than they bargained for, and will be tested to their limits in a desperate attempt to survive a predator of monstrous proportions.

Let me start by first saying that I loved their first feature length multiple award winning film Dogged (Read my review HERE), which was also born from a Kickstarter campaign. You can absolutely tell from Dogged that they are only going to get better as story tellers and film makers so I am really looking forward to seeing Nefarious and how far they have come with their unique and very engrossing cinematic style.

The Kickstarter campaign aims to raise $28,274 by May 18th and has already amassed about $7,000 (I am definitely a backer). As part of this budget, director Richard Rowntree (who has an incredible IMDb resume) promises “Imaginative and gory practical FX” along with a character driven story that will appeal to horror fans around the world.

Ash Mountain Films & director Richard Rowntree, makers of the folk-horror festival hit “Dogged” have this week launched a crowdfunding campaign for their new feature film “Nefarious” –a home invasion horror/thriller with a twist.
Receiving 15% of their $20,000 goal in the first 72 hours of launch, the project is garnering plenty of support so far, and will run until 18th May.
Following the success of their first feature (which will be released later this year in North America & the UK on DVD & VOD by Left Films), the team have embarked on another ambitious feature film project, and they’re hoping for lots more support from the horror community to get it made.
Taking quite a different turn from the folk-horror sub-genre on this occasion, “Nefarious” centers on a home invasion which goes horrifically wrong and leaves the protagonists fighting for their lives against a predator of monstrous proportions.
The film promises to focus on themes relating to real world current issues including poverty & the class divide, mental health and sexual manipulation, and boasts a cast horror fans will be familiar with in Toby Wynn-Davies (Escape From Cannibal Farm, Dogged) and star of the hit Crypt TV short film“The Birch”, Aaron Thomas Ward.
The team have promised some imaginative & gory practical effects, combined with a very character driven story which should appeal to horror fans everywhere.

This is an “All or nothing” Kickstarter campaign meaning that if they reach their goal, money won’t be taken out of your account until May 18th and if they don’t then no money is taken.

Your pledges won’t be collected until the end of the campaign, & even then it’s ONLY if we reach our funding goal, so don’t worry if you’re a bit short on funds this month…think of it as a lay-away pledge! 

This is a great way to support indie horror and help a film get made. Even if you can’t make a cash donation then just share the campaign and help spread the word!
