Never Hike Alone (2017)-The Outstanding Friday the 13th Fan Film is Coming to Blu Ray-Fitz of Horror

Very rarely am I taken off guard with new Blu ray announcements but as I was scrolling through Facebook the other day I had to do a double take when I saw the smash hit Friday the 13th fan film from indie director Vincente DiSanti (who also plays Jason Voorhees in the movie) Never Hike Alone on a Blu ray cover. With the rights of the franchise up in the air due to legal battles Paramount has shelved the franchise indefinitely leaving fans to either make their own F13 movies or watch these fan made films featuring Jason Voorhees. There is some serious talent out there making these movies ( Cody Faulk– Voorhees, Ian Messenger– Friday the 13th: Legacy) so hopefully the big studios take notice that we the fans are ready for a new entry in the beloved franchise and maybe give one of these guys a shot at directing. Until then, we will bask in the glory of these very talented independent film makers as they breathe new life into one of the greatest slashers of all time.

Arguably the best F13 fan film to date, Never Hike Alone is breaking new ground by bringing a fan film with a horror icon that is owned via copyright by 3 huge film studios, to a distributed physical format. Hopefully this starts a trend because some of these fan films are amazing.

Synopsis-A hiker’s survival skills are put to the test, when he stumbles upon the remains of an old abandoned camp and discovers its long dark secrets. (Run time 54 minutes)

Starting Thursday March 15th at 12pm EST / 9am PST, WOMP STOMP FILMS will officially kick off their Indigogo campaign to raise $13,000 to cover physical media production cost, packaging and shipping. Estimated delivery of goods is June. (Update-as 3/16 all blu rays are sold out).

Jason Voorhees fans better mark their calendars for March 15, 2018 because Never Hike Alone: A Friday the 13^th Fan Film is coming to Indiegogo for a one time only home video release campaign.

For a contribution of $20, fans will receive a combo Blu Ray and DVD package of Never Hike Alone. Bonus features will include a theatrical 5.1 surround sound mix, behind the scene photos, interviews with the cast and crew, and more.

Other items available during the campaign will include the Never Hike Alone Soundtrack, Poster, Limited Edition VHS, screen replica “Ghost Hock” masks, and a one of a kind 1/6 scale “Ghost Jason” Action Figure.  

The campaign will officially launch at 12pm EST / 9am PST. Supplies will be limited so make sure to secure your copy of Never Hike Alone early before it’s too late.

Upon the completing the production of physical media, Womp Stomp Films will be donating all left over campaign funding to the United Way’s Thomas Fire Victim Relief Fund.

Besides the Blu ray combo pack that is available these guys are pulling no punches when it comes to giving the fans what they want, including a one of a kind (literally there is only one available) Jason Voorhees 12” action figure.

I am really excited to be able to add this to my Friday the 13th collection and as I said before, I hope this opens the door for other fan films to get the recognition they deserve. Because it is a fan film though it is available on YouTube for free but if you’re like me you will want this in your physical collection and in high definition.
