Bigfoot’s Bride- I Guarantee You’ve Never Seen a Bigfoot Like This! – Fitz of Horror Review

Synopsis- It’s Bigfoot like you’ve never seen him before! An homage to the golden days of low budget, indie horror, when Corman was King.

Being a huge fan of anything Bigfoot, especially Bigfoot horror movies, I feel like I have seen the best, the worst and everything inbetween. Erick Wofford’s Bigfoot’s Bride definitely falls firmly in the “somewhere inbetween” but it also offers up a Sasquatch unlike anything I’ve ever seen and it definitely caught me off guard but in a good way. From the start, Bigfoot’s Bride has a distinct grindhouse vibe to it and carries the felling throughout, with grainy moments of video and the fact that it doesn’t care that it is a low budget movie.

The movie begins with a father and son on a hunting trip but they soon find out that they, in fact, are the ones being hunted. During this opening sequence we only hear the creature and see the prey from his infared point of view but never see the beast.

It’s not long after the opening sequence that we finally get to see the director’s vision of Bigfoot and it is something bred from low budget neccessity but also works so well that it still has a large rented space in my head. That is as far as I will go with the description of the Bigfoot in this movie because I don’t want to rob anyone of the feeling I felt when I first saw him. I will say that the practical creature FX are very well done and most definitely add to the mystique of the movie.

There really isn’t a solid or coherrant storyline in the film besides the fact our Bigfoot is in love with a beautiful camper (Jessica Megan Rivera) who is recently split from her conceaded boyfriend and looking for solitude in the woods. In the meantime Bigfoot is on a bloody rampage taking out irresponsible campers with his pent up rage. The practical FX that are shown are actually quite good for the budget and I personally loved the cartoon blood splatter that was done in place of CGI or pumps.

The last half hour of the movie provided a few twists and turns that I didn’t see coming and also offers a post credit scene that was really unexpected but great. The overall pace of the film is a bit slow but as a whole was completely unique and enjoyable. This will definitely be going into the collection when it is released later this year!

Bigfoot’s Bride will definitely not be for everyone but for those of us that can switch our brains to appreciate the effort put forward by an indie horror film/director, you will no doubt enjoy this one and for what it’s worth, this movie features zero gratuitous nudity (not a bad thing) and does not fall anywhere in the “Bigfoot erotica” genre.
