Body at Brighton Rock (2019) – In theaters and On Demand April 26, 2019 – A Fitz of Horror Preview

Synopsis- Wendy, a part-time summer employee at a mountainous state park, takes on a rough trail assignment at the end of the season, trying to prove to her friends that she’s capable enough to do the job. When she takes a wrong turn and ends up deep in the backcountry, she stumbles upon what might be a potential crime scene. Stuck with no communication after losing her radio and with orders to guard the site, Wendy must fight the urge to run and do the harder job of staying put — spending the night deep in the wilderness, facing down her worst fears and proving to everyone – including herself – that she’s made of stronger stuff than they think she is.

Who hasn’t been in the position where an overwhelming task was dropped on your lap at work? If that includes being a national parks trainee in the dense wild and having to guard a body/crime-scene while losing communication with the outside world, you can kindly piss off now. I’ve hiked and camped in the Adirondacks, Allegheny and Southern Tier of NY and worried about “what if my girlfriend (at the time) rolls her ankle?” or thought “we have no food out, so we shouldn’t be bothered by bears for the night.” Cripes, that’s baby stuff compared to what Wendy, played by Karina Fontes (Southbound, The Deleted), goes through. I love survival shows and movies, so this one has my keen interest. I’m not so sure this will be a modern-day ‘The Revenant’ but the wife and I are looking forward to this one.

The film is written, directed and produced by Roxanne Benjamin (XX, Southbound, and V/H/S) along with co-production from Christopher Alender & David A. Smith.  Aside from Fontes it also stars Casey Adams, John Getz (The Social Network), Emily Althaus (Orange is the New Black), Miranda Bailey and Martin Spanjers. Magnolia Pictures will release Body at Brighton Rock in theaters and On Demand on April 26, 2019.
