98.6% (2018) FULL FILM IN ARTICLE-A nearly perfect horror short from indie horror icon Cindy Maples- Fitz of Horror Review

Bryan Fitzgerald (Fitz of Horror) December 8, 2018

98.6%, the newest short film directed by the endlessly talented Cindy Maples and brought to us by Carriage House Productions is a shining example of how much good story can be packed into a film that has a run time of only 11 minutes. Randy Murray wrote a great story complete with great dialogue that flows between Mehlika (Cindy Maples) and Bradley (Rusty James) easily. Their great chemistry is no surprise though because they a married in real life.

As the film opens we see a couple, Mehlika and Bradley (the only people in the film), talking in a car after what appears to be their first date. The easy banter between the two shows a real chemistry, a 98.6% match type of chemistry from what the dating website they met on says. Being a gentleman, Bradley walks Mehlika to her front door where the conversation continues. Brimming with confidence Bradley avoids a first kiss scenario with an interesting move, this is where their conversation takes a turn and shows that there may be more to each of these characters than meets the eye.

This short film doesn’t end here though and the following chain of events are something that I definitely didn’t expect. Culminating in a deliciously violent and bloody finale 98.6% begs for an immediate rewatch and makes you wish it were about 30 minutes longer.

Being released on YouTube just today (12/8/18), the film has already been selected for an award at the Direct Short Online Film Festival!

Congratulations to all involved! Please share the hell out of this one because it’s not easy to find in a Google search.

Below is the full film. Enjoy and give their YouTube channel a subscribe!
