13 Questions with Peter Anthony-Marketing genius, Actor, Producer for Vengeance a Friday the 13th fan film-Fitz of Horror Interview

Bryan Fitzgerald (Fitz of Horror/Jason Voorhees Hall of Fame) November 20, 2018

Peter Anthony and I have been friends for a while now and being as how we are both working as producers and marketing guys on 2 separate Friday the 13th fan films, myself with VOORHEES directed by Cody Faulk and Peter with Vengeance directed by Jeremy Brown, Both in production, it was nice to catch up with him and find out what he’s been up to!

Peter is a lifelong Friday the 13th fan doing what he loves and he is great at what he does. I’ve always called him the “Man on the street” because he is always busy at conventions hanging with beloved Friday the 13th alumni and talking about the various fan films that are being made in the franchise’s honor, even getting former Jason Voorhees (Kane Hodder, Steve Dash, C.J. Graham) actors to get on board and back these projects.

He is an asset to the indie horror scene and a major player in the Friday the 13th world specifically. I am happy to call him a friend and also glad to introduce you all to Mr. Peter Anthony!

Fitz of Horror-Pete, I saw you all over social media promoting Vengeance, where have you been of late?

Peter Anthony-Jason Brooks and Jeremy Brown have me doing much more behind the scenes work. Kickstarter ideas, Marketing Financials, Forecasting etc. Marketing has primarily been Jules job for the past month or so and she has been doing an amazing job! Even though you don’t see me as much I am constantly coming up with promotions and ideas for the movie daily.

FOH-As producers, myself on Cody Faulk’s “Voorhees” and you on Jeremy Brown’s “Vengeance”, on different Friday the 13th fan film projects and a few others in the works like 13 Fanboy, Never Hike Alone and His Name Was Jason,  how important do you think it is that all parties remain supportive of one another’s projects?

PA-I feel it’s imperative. Period. I still remain friends with every at Voorhees now. I love those guys/girls and I honestly do feel that their film will truly be gory and scary. I would bet on it. It was a true honor and inspiration to help work on that film. Never Hike Alone made history in the Fan Film realm. We support and back Deborah Voorhees and her film “Fanboy 13”. Dave Brown is doing a fantastic job with “His name was Jason”. We have to stop and remember these are fan films and no one makes money from them. We can’t get lost in trying to believe that one vision is better than the others. We are all the same and all equal. I will be watching and backing all these projects. We need these films to thrive as Hollywood stalls.

FOH-I know you have worked with and are currently working with some of the men that have played Jason in a movie, give me your definitive answer-Who is your favorite Jason?

PA-I can hear the “ki ki ki ma ma ma” as we speak! Without a doubt part 7 hooked me. The look was obviously the best ever but the stunts he pulled in that movie have yet to be matched. Mix that in with his heavy breathing, quick head turns and you have the best Jason to ever do it. 27 years later I met Kane Hodder for the first time and the rest is history. I consider him a good friend now. So Kane Hodder it is.

FOH-This film seems to divide F13 fans, where do you stand? Jason Goes to Hell- Overrated or underrated.

PA-This is a tough one. Although I admire Adam Marcus as a person and director I was not a fan of the film to be honest. Everyone has their own opinion and some fans absolutely love it. You also see part 9 in Cos Play a lot more than you would think.

FOH-You’re a marketing beast, what drives you? Money? Fame? Love of the game?

PA-Love of the game by far. I am in sales so I feel I have an advantage in communicating with fans etc. I have been offered the role of Jason in a few films but I am only 5’11 and I feel that would ruin the Jason Mystic. So Love is my final answer.

FOH-Do you have any projects lined up after Vengeance?

PA-One, Yes. I have also been contacted by a F13 alumni about another. We shall see but I am excited.

FOH-What music do you listen to in your ear buds at the gym?I imagine you would be pretty intimidating to people.

PA-All kinds. I honestly like almost every type of music. When I lift I see it as a war… so my war music consists of 80’s and 90’s rap. A lot of Tupac, Wutang, etc. I also love Electronic. I basically have a “F**K You” resting face at the gym. Maybe that’s why no girls talk to me there?…

FOH-What is your favorite non horror movie? Why?

PA-True Romance. Loaded with hall of fame actors and Quentin Tarrantino’s first script. That movie is bad ass! One of the best endings in movie history. Bet you never would have guessed that!

FOH-Who inspires you?

PA-My parents, my nieces, my family. They honestly motivate me to be a better person etc. I believe my passion derives from never wanting to let them down. Boring answer but 100% the truth.

FOH-Seriously, does King Kong stand a chance against Godzilla?

PA-Is this a trick question? (head spins around looking for cameras). Listen, I love King Kong, Especially Peter Jackson’s portrayal of him. When Kong played with the dead dinosaurs jaw it made me have flashbacks to some street fights I had. Lol, Don’t ask. Godzilla… God – mofo – Zilla all the way! I have every single one of the films. I say Godzilla, round one, by arm bar.

FOH-What would you say you’re known for?

PA-“If you ask 10 people who I am you will get 10 different answers” – Tupac Shakur. Tough question. To some I am generous, loving and insightful. To others, I’ll be quit honest, I am “El Diablo”, But those who see horns deserve it. Trust me.

FOHFreddy, Jason and Michael walk in to a bar, who’s drinking what? Freddy seems like a tequila guy that would get white girl wasted…

PA-What a great question…. Hmmm let me see. I would think Freddy would drink Scotch being the intellectual of the group by far. Jason – I give him the Tequila, because Kane Hodder always drinks Agave Tequila and him and I have put down our fair share of Tequila over the years. Michael – Bud Heavy. He is simple and to the point.

As always, I appreciate your time and look forward to seeing this completed project!

I would be a horrible friend if I didn’t plug his current project, so go support Vengeance HERE
