WrestleMassacre (2018)- It’s Like WWE Meets Mortal Kombat-This Movie is Fun!- Fitz of Horror Review

Written by Bryan Fitzgerald (Fitz of Horror) August 20, 2018

Synopsis-Randy is an awkward groundskeeper who is obsessed with professional wrestling. Longing for a sense of belonging with grandiose dreams of becoming a wrestling superstar, Randy is only met with abject humiliation and alienation. A brutal shaming at a local wrestling school pushes Randy over the edge and lights the spark for his blood lust. Donned in wrestling gear and armed with homicidal rage, Randy sets out on a blood soaked rampage to punish those who wronged him. With each ghastly kill, Randy takes a trophy from his tormentors to add to a wrestling title belt crafted from human flesh. The only hope of putting an end to his reign of carnage lies with Becky, an understanding client who is one of the only few to ever show him kindness.

You won’t have to be a fan of wrestling to enjoy Brad Twigg’s Wrestlemassacre, but if you are a fan, you are going to love this movie. With special appearances from some wrestling legends like Nikolai Volkoff, Jimmy Valiant, Tony Atlas, The Sandman and Manny Fernandez and starring roles by Richie Acevedo and Rene Dupree, who are both great, this movie has no shortage of tough guys.

Randy is played to awkward perfection by Richie Acevedo. As he muddles his way through his menial life and landscaping  job he is treated like crap by his bosses and clients alike. As Randy starts to become fed up with life and people he puts his hope into a wrestling school so he can impress his father (Nikalai Volkoff) who is also a former wrestler and refocus his disdain for his own existence.

After an embarrassing first wrestling class and other mishaps leading up to that day, Randy fucking loses it and that’s when things get great.

In all honesty, the first half an hour was a bit slow and some of the acting was suspect with some of the dialogue between characters dragging a bit but the last 70 minutes was totally worth it. When Randy finally loses it and goes on a revenge fueled rampage, body parts start flying and the gore is ramped up to 1000.

Being a wrestling fan I truly appreciated the fact that all of the fights that took place were carried out with wrestling moves, a very nice touch by Twigg. It was like WWE meets Mortal Kombat where the wrestling moves turn to insanely brutal finishing moves.

If you’re a fan of wrestling entertainment like WWE then you will love this movie. If you’re a fan of gore you will love this one. If you’re not a fan of either of those things, you will appreciate it because it’s a really fun movie!
