Rabbit in Red the Award Winning Horror Fiction Trilogy Comes to an End with “Bury the Rabbit”

Written by Bryan Fitzgerald (Fitz of Horror)

Joe Chianakas may not be a household name yet but after writing the wildly successful Rabbit in Red trilogy he is on the radar of horror fiction greats like Dean Koontz and Stephen King and he has the Tweets to prove it.

The attention in the horror world is much deserved as Joe has written a trio of books that plays out like his very own love letter, so to speak, to the horror genre in all of it’s pop culture glory. That being said, one doesn’t necessarily have to be a fan of horror movies to enjoy these thrilling and well written books.

Rabbit in Red Vol. 1 was named 2016’s “Horror Book of the Year” by Metamorph Publishing after weeks of voting by fans and close to 100 horror related books in the mix.

This success was followed by Rabbit in Red being the first ever book being featured in the popular horror subscription service “Horror Block” which is distributed to thousands of people worldwide further solidifying him as a power player in the horror world.

Rabbit in Red Volume 1 Synopsis:

Bill Wise has blood in his past, so he turns to horror films to wipe it clean. Jaime Stein has felt the betrayal of death, so she too takes refuge in the on-screen deaths of others. Now Bill, Jaime, and seventeen other horror-loving teens have gathered at Rabbit in Red Studios, the brainchild of eccentric horror producer Jay “JB” Bell, for the terror-filled, blood-drenched contest of their lives.

JB has presented this competition as a race between the best of the best that will reward the winners with cash, internships, and a career making the movies they love. But things aren’t always as they seem at Rabbit in Red, and soon life starts to imitate art. Will Bill and Jaime be strong enough to confront real horror to save their friends, or will they all fall victim to JB’s twisted plans?

This book plays out like a Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory meets The Hunger Games and is a non stop thrill ride chock full of horror movie references!

Rabbit in Red can be found in multiple formats including and audio book which is available on Amazon, iTunes and Audible and is narrated by Fitz of Horror aka Me (shameless plug alert!)

Rabbit in Red Volume 2: Burn the Rabbit synopsis:

Bill Wise can’t wait to return to Rabbit in Red Studios–this time as a student in JB’s brand-new Horror College. He’s looking forward to learning the craft, renewing last year’s friendships, and above all, to seeing Jaime, and finally asking her to be his girlfriend.

But before he even gets to see her, one of their own is violently attacked. JB goes on the hunt, and the students learn about his troubled past, which changes their views of him forever. As their project, they create Rabbit in Red’s most terrifying and disturbing challenge yet, Hellfire, and use it to recruit a new class of horror students.

Then the bodies start piling up, and the mysteries become more and more dangerous. Is this another one of JB’s dark games-within-a-game, or will Rabbit in Red–and everyone in it–burn in the end.

Rabbit in Red Vol. 2: Burn the Rabbit hit the market in 2017 like a ball of flames (no pun intended), becoming the #1 horror fiction release on Amazon upon it’s highly anticipated release.

Volume 2 plays out much darker and more mature than the first book. The characters are a bit older and emotionally scarred from their intense experiences in the first story. I liken the transition from the first to second book to Rob Zombie’s creative rebirth from the cult favorite House of 1000 Corpses to his critically acclaimed The Devils Rejects. What I mean by this is that you can see a creative genius coming into his own by taking chances. I found myself upset with him because of the new directions he was taking the characters but it all ends up working and working well because upon completion of this book you will be left wanting more. More will come this October when Joe completes his trilogy with Bury the Rabbit.

Rabbit in Red Volume 3: Bury the Rabbit synopsis:

In this final volume of the Rabbit in Red trilogy, the scares move to real-world horror locations in the most bone-chilling challenges yet. The winner gets to claim ownership of Rabbit in Red and all its fortunes. But multiple villains all want the empire for themselves, and others seek deadly revenge.

Not everyone will survive, and the darkest night of Bill, Jaime, and the other Rabbit in Red students’ lives has only just begun. They discover surprises about their past and face their biggest threats. What will be their fate? Will they bury the rabbit forever?

Rabbit in Red was voted Best Horror Book-of-the-Year in the Summer Indie Book Awards.

Rabbit in Red Volume 3: Bury the Rabbit will be released October 28th 2017 and will no doubt be met with extremely high demand. It is already winning awards and is currently the feature of a new subscription service BookLoot, where people will receive a limited edition single bound Rabbit in Red trilogy book as well as original artwork from the talented artist behind the unique Rabbit in Red covers, Camron Johnson Illustrations.

It will be bittersweet finishing this trilogy because the character development across the three books truly makes you care about what happens to them, but with the door closing on this chapter of Chianakas’s  soon to be expanding horror fiction body of work, he is already working on new novels to keep us awake at night. If the creative growth we have witnessed from Rabbit in Red Vol. One to Rabbit in Red Vol. Three tells us anything, we are all in for serious treats with his upcoming works.

Stay tuned for his upcoming book “Pit of Darkness” and check out his other book of short stories “Nightmares Under the Moonlight” already available on Amazon.
